100 Word Challenge - Week 7 (20)

“But where did it go?” she shouted. I took a deep breathe considering whether I should tell her the truth.“Where is it?” she yelled forcefully again. I looked at my friends, who feel almost as guilty as I do.“I have a meeting in 10 minutes, so GIVE ME MY DOG!” he face was turning red with frustration, but I couldn’t bear to tell her the truth. I look down at my shoes as tears trickle down my cheek. I open my mouth but the words don’t come out. Finally I utter the two words that Mia wasn’t expecting to hear,  that will ruin our friendship forever. “She’s dead.”

  1. Rachel,
Your piece held me in its grip, and I had to catch my breath when the revelation occurred at the end. What emotion you have evoked. I find myself wondering whatever could have happened?
    Keep writing.

  2. Oh dear Rachel, as a dog owner myself I can definitively empathise with both of your characters. I am left wondering what might have happened to poor Mia's treasured pet.
I am impressed with the maximum impact of the use of the prompt at the beginning of your piece. Great writing.
    Thanks for sharing,
